Mike Weber

Mike works with an attitude of service as the Senior Servant at Center for Serving Leadership. Mike is motivated by one fundamental business principle: Leadership means making decisions that support the care of people and the world in which we live.

This is a theme woven through Mike’s senior executive career. His commitment to building and maintaining long-term relationships of trust has added significant value to the lives of both employees and customers. “I am a servant,” he explains. “I serve our customers, and I serve 158 employees and their families. My focus is on impacting people’s lives. If the people I work with are successful—of course, part of the job is to make sure we define success in the same way and in a meaningful way, the business results come. We create value by empowering people and optimizing their contributions. But we cannot do that without getting to know them and understanding them. When we align their strengths with the business drivers, we have the privilege of watching them perform their magic.”

“We have a values-driven reputation that allows us to attract and retain good people. They hear that it’s not all about the money here and they want to work in a place where the goal of building up our people and our team is as important as building a shed. I encourage everyone to make the commitment to join a cohort.  Take the plunge. It is well worth it.”

Daniel Miller, JDM Structures

“Because of attending the Serving Leader cohort, I have learned to respect and cherish my God-given personality strengths. Prior to the course, I felt detached as if I were floating aimlessly in our family business. I saw how these unique giftings were the secret sauce to our family business. Thank you CSL team for helping me learn to love myself and have a purpose in the family business again.”

Jaina Shirk, Shirk Brothers Roofing

“Defining the core values that I lead from has been so helpful for me and our organization. This exercise alone has smoothed the way for so many more beneficial outcomes in our work environment. But it goes beyond defining. John was helpful personally in navigating the implementation and communication of these core values. I don’t think I could have implemented well without guidance.”

Jeremy Miller, Rosedale Bible College

“It gave me tools to make our businesses impactful. Not only did it give me tools, give my employees a sense of purpose and feel valued but it helped me to gain a sense of purpose and clarity of why we do what we do.”

Ed Hoover

“When a friend asks me about the value of being part of the Serving Leader program, I tell them to just sign up, that it is worth every penny and has paid me dividends year after year.”

Ernie Hershberger, Homestead Furniture, Dutch Design, and Abner Henry

“It gave me tools to make our businesses impactful. Not only did it give me tools, give my employees a sense of purpose and feel valued but it helped me to gain a sense of purpose and clarity of why we do what we do.”
